Professional Supervision

Relational Clinical Supervision for Counsellors and Psychotherapists 1:1:
Whether online or in person, I welcome enquiries from trainees and qualified professional therapists looking to experience a relational approach to clinical supervision. I incorporate the use of Hawkins and Shohet’s seven-eyed model to guide, encourage openness and invite curiosity within the supervision relationship. I offer a safe, nurturing environment where unconditional positive regard, guidance and motivational support allow for honesty and vulnerability when discussing all aspects of clinical work. My aim is to create robust, long lasting, supportive clinical relationships with supervisees who wish to grow in their own professional development and embrace their own unique style of working. The work we do as therapists, clinicians and professionals can be both incredibly rewarding and challenging. It is imperative that we take good care of ourselves and supervision is an important aspect of the therapist’s self-care. Not only can I support you in your private practice, I can support you in your life and career goals. Within our unique working relationship I can attend to your professional needs by motivating and supporting you to grow and further your knowledge, develop your ambition and flourish in your career.

Groups for Counsellors and Psychotherapists: I have 2 groups running at the moment:

Relational group supervision runs on the second Friday of the month in the afternoon in Hebden Bridge and is £35 per session. This is a space where qualified professionals in counselling and psychotherapy feel inspired to explore their process, develop their professional practice and grow their private practice. Groups are co-created, safe, supportive and respectful. Bring a question or case study example or learn from others’ questions and offer support/ feedback. Receive mindful and practical support from colleagues and supervisor. The aim of the group is to provide rich exploration of learning edges and acquaintance with professional strengths. Pre book by email as this is a popular group and spaces are limited.

Restorative Group Process runs on the last Friday of the month in the afternoon in Hebden Bridge and is £35 per session. This safe, supportive, respectful group is for qualified professionals in counselling and psychotherapy. Here participants are inspired to get to know each other through the process of checking in and sharing something of themselves or their experience of their practice. The aim of the group is for participants to explore their own process and further develop an understanding of themselves. Groups are co-created and mindfully facilitated. This group is for anyone who would like to connect with other therapists and potentially create a network of trusted colleagues. If you would like a restorative and relational experience of group process, a space where you can experience safety, respect and open discussion along with exploration of relational dynamics. This could be the group for you. Minimum of 4 participants per group.

Clinical supervision for legal professionals and frontline emergency services:

Front line emergency personnel such as police officers, fire fighters, social workers, medics and legal professionals are the people we all look to in times of crisis. Who do you go to when you’re struggling and when the pressure is on for you to keep it together? Burnout arises from carrying confidential caseloads and being exposed repeatedly to highly emotional and traumatic material.

We humans experience vicarious trauma when we don’t have a robust outlet. The cumulative impact of being exposed long term to trauma can have a devastating impact. Usually it’s home life and personal relationships that begin to suffer first. Venting at our nearest and dearest is never ok but It’s really hard to contain intense emotions all of the time. None of us, however experienced or qualified in our profession, have a finite capacity for holding in such emotion and neither should we. Many people cope with behaviours that at first appear to be helpful and in time become an issue in themselves. So, when holding it together professionally becomes more difficult, those nearest to us often become the outlet for the release of those emotions and we might notice ourselves becoming more reliant on doom scrolling, zoning out, alcohol, drugs, pornography, gambling, spending money- pretty much anything that allows us to escape our feelings.

I can offer you a space where you can speak freely and confidentially. Through the therapeutic relationship that we will build together It is my aim that you will begin to feel less weighed down and more able to regain focus on what’s important to you. Lighter around your family and a greater sense of joy in life generally. If you can’t speak to anyone else and you would like to discuss your individual needs with me, please send me an email. Sessions can be one off, ad hoc or longer term and individual sessions are 50 minutes.
